From Harold MacLeod's "The Loyalist Comptons of Prince Edward Island": The Ashby Estates were acquired by Sir William Compton, an ancestor of the present owner, in 1512. Work on the present building in 1754 by Henry, !st Lord Compton. Building continued until 1600 when Queen Elizabeth stayed in the house. King James I was a frequent visitor.

Located approx. 14 miles south of Lexington in Raven Run Nature Sanctuary, Built ca 1809
Baruch bought 166 acres of Henry Bell's 3000 aces military warrant, 1804, Lexington, Fayette Co KY. This became known as "The Home place". It was later sold to Baruch's son THOMAS and then in 1859 to his son THOMAS. Baruch moved from MD to KY bef Dec 1810. He settled on Jack's Creek Pike about 14 miles from Lexington. Baruch's brother, Walter, married ANN HIGGINS, sister of SARAH HIGGINS PRATHER. Walter's plantation house and estate is now in the hands of Fayette Co. & is being restored and the estate is a nature preserve.
