- Rose, a Seattle native, grew up in North Seattle and attended schools in the Shoreline School District through high school.
After a year at Shoreline Community College, she enrolled at Seattle Pacific College (now Seattle Pacific University) in 1967, graduating with a bachelors degree in French and Spanish languages in 1970. She also earned her teaching certificate a nd then did student teaching at Sunset Jr. High, where her husband, Marty Prather, attended 7th through 9th grades years earlier, and Shorecrest High School.
In 1971 Rose accepted a clerical position in the medical staff library at Group Health Cooperative, a health maintenance organization. This job involved assisting the Director of Libraries and other health professionals in research for physician s in support of patient care and medical research.
In 1974 she met Harold Martin Prather, Jr. (Marty), whom she married in 1976.
Today, she continues to work at Group Health Cooperative as a Library Specialist, and is involved in most medical library functions.
Rose and Marty love to travel and have been on several trips, including Hawaii, Alaska, Egypt, Europe, England, Australia, New Zealand, Figi, New England, Canada, Scandinavia, and Russia, as well as several auto trips to the Mid West and Califor nia.
Though they have no children, their "little one" is a miniature schnauzer, Max, born in 1990.
Rose's interests include cross stitch, antiques, and bears (over 130 at last count), tole painting, crossword puzzles, the game "scrabble", "new age" music, and going for a walk in the wooded areas near where they live.
