Frank Connery Killed by Cars Struck by Train No. 18 at Parker's Crossing West of Rio Monday evening this community was shocked to hear the sudden death of one of its residents, Frank Connery, who was struck and instantly killed by the cars at wh at is known as Parker's crossing about two miles West of Rio. Mr. Connery, who had been at work at his trade as stone mason at Portage, bought a ticket for Rio and boarded the first section of No. 18, which leaves Portage at 4:45. It is reporte d that he was put off the train at Wyocena because he did not or could not produce a ticket or pay his fair on demand of the conductor. Mr. Connery immediately set our a foot for Rio and had gotten as fast Parker's crossing when he was overtake n by the second section of 18. His body was thrown to the ground and nearly every bone in his body was broken. There was a deep gash in the back of his head and his legs, arms and neck were broken. After the train crew had laid out the body th e train proceeded to Rio where the authorities were notified. Kennedy Scott obtained permission by telephone from Dist. Atty. Bogue to remove the body to Rio. Ed Parker who lives a few rods from the accident happened, broth the body to the villa ge hall to await the arrival of Mr. Bogue and Coroner McSorley, who arrived next morning. Upon investigation it was decided not to hold an inquest. He was born in the town of Courtland and was at the time of his death forty-six years, two month s and two days old. Besides his wife he leaves five children, Viola, Beatrice, William, Paul, Harlan and Le Roy; and five brothers and one sister to mourn his untimely death. The funeral was held Thursday from St .Patrick's church at Doylestown . Acting as pall-bearers were: Otto Schliesman, Chas. Caldwell, Pat Miles and Thos. Ford. Internment was in the Doylestown cemetery. Among the relatives from out of town in attendance at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Connery of Dousman, Ma urice Connery of Iron Mountain, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Spencer of Hartford, Mr. and Mrs. Crinion of Beaver Dam and Mr. and Mrs. W. Schwartz of Barnett Junction.
