271 Comments: Found genealogy of Stephen Power, son of Patrick Power and Lucy Roach. I'm also a descendant of same family (Patrick Power+Lucy Roach) (Emma Lucy Power+Nicholas Gallagher) (Rosemary Gallagher+T. Joseph Cody)(living Cody+living DeVries) (Tom DeVries).

I'm interested in finding out more about Power and Roach lineages, including descendants since Patrick and Lucy and ancestors reaching back to Canada and Ireland.

Only living memory of Lucy Roach may be my mother's, who visited Lucy as a very young girl in 1934 when her great-grandmother was a widow living on edge of Robbins Farm in Arlington, MA.

If possible, please pass along this message to Power/Roach descendants so that they may respond if they wish to do so.

Thanks.

277 Daniel Veatch Sr had at least two sons, Elijah (b 1751) and Daniel Jr. (B 1755). They joined the 13th Regiment of the Virginia Continental line in January of 1777 under Colonel Crawford and lieutenant Uriah Springer. They fought in the battles of Germantown and Brandywine with Crawford and Springer in General Greene's division. I conjecture they were motivated by Washington's miraculous victory in Trenton, NJ on Christmas of 76 to join the fight. They weathered the winter of 1777-78 at Valley Forge, stationed on the eastern flank of the encampment. Elijah can be found on the muster rolls as Elijah Veech. After this hard winter they potentially fought the battle at Monmouth courthouse and then were sent to Fort Pitt. From their they most likely built fort Lauren's where they would have been reduced to eating their shoes to survive. They were discharged at fort Pitt in 1780. Soon after this they re-enlisted in the South Carolina militia under General Thomas Sumter. They were involved in the battle of Orangeburg and Eutaw Springs. I believe they re-enlisted due to the attacks that were being made on their Uncle (James Veatch Sr) and cousins (Nathan and Elias). I'm not sure of the timing of their enlistment but it may have had something to do with the death of their uncle and capturing of their Cousin at Camden. After the war they moved out to KY. Daniel had a son named John in 1803-5. Daniel died shortly thereafter. John lived with his mother Charity for some time then with Elijah over in Caldwell county. They then moved to Thompkinsville KY as Elijah got older. John Married Catherine. John had Jesse Mitchel. They moved to Hopkinsville KY. JM married Viney. They had Bradley. Bradley married Rachel. They had Wokilliam. William had Bobby Sr. Bobby Sr married Betty Davis and had Bobby Jr. Bobby Jr married Ruth Ann Shope and had me. And that's the short version!
